Mumbai – A person with suspected symptoms of Guilan Barre syndrome (GBS) has died in areas including Pimpri Chinchwad in Pune. For the last several days, cases of this syndrome are coming up and now this number has increased to 101. Realizing the seriousness of the situation, the Central Government has sent a special team of seven experts to Pune.
Sources in the health department of Maharashtra government have informed that 28 more cases of GBS have been reported in the district including Pune city i.e. 28 more people have been infected with GBS. 81 GBS patients are from Pune municipality, 14 patients are from Pimpri-Chinchwad municipality, while the remaining six (6) patients are from Pune district.
Out of 101 GBS patients, 68 are men, while 33 are female patients. The worrying thing is that 18 of these patients are currently placed on ventilator. There are 19 child patients in patients.
A person with suspected GBS symptoms died in Solapur. It has been suggested that the patient must have been GBS in Pune initially and then he would have gone to Solapur. The patient had symptoms of cold, cough. In addition, he was admitted to a private hospital in Solapur on 18 January due to difficulty in breathing, however, the patient became more worrying and died.
Pune Municipal Health Department has collected drinking water samples from areas of the city where GBS cases have been reported. Laboratory tests have shown that the bacterial E. coli levels are very high, however, the officials of the Health Department have also clarified that it is not yet certain that citizens are using the same well water for drinking. Or not.
In addition, the bacteria of the cammillobacter jejuni-type have also been found in blood and intestines- medical tests. This bacteria causes JBS in humans.
On the other hand, the Health Department of Pune Municipal Corporation has also surveyed 25,578 houses so far.

Expert neurologists say GBS is caused by disruption in natural speed of the human brain. This type of disease is rare. Simply put, the immune system in the human body attacks brain cells for some unknown reason. As a result, the muscles of that person’s body become weak. Also, muscles also become inactive. In some cases the person may also suffer from paralysis.
In this way, in the beginning, symptoms of cold, cough, phlegm etc. are seen in the person. Sometimes diarrhea also occurs.
If the patient gets proper immediate treatment, he will be completely cured within two weeks. However, in some cases, the patient feels extremely weak.
