A shocking case of wages has come to light under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) from Maldar village in Yadgir district of Karnataka. , Here some male laborers used to work by wearing sarees in the name of women, while real women laborers did not do any work.

The fraud came to light during a drain deepening project when some pictures went viral on social media. In this, men were seen working wearing sarees. This work was going on in the farm of Ningppa Pujari, a farmer of Mallar village and the total cost of the project is said to be ₹ 3 lakh.
Confirming the scam, Lavesh Oradia, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the District Panchayat said, “The number of male and women workers registered at the workplace does not match the official records.” According to the record, 6 men and 4 women were at work, but men were working and claiming wages instead of women.
This fraud was planned by a barefoot technician
The scam was planned by a ‘barefoot technician’ named Viresh, who worked on a contract in the Panchayat Department. They have been suspended with immediate effect. The CEO said that complaints were received in this regard in February itself and action was started on it. He also clarified that no wages have been paid to anyone under this project yet.

Further investigation revealed that this manipulation was done with the help of National Mobile Monitoring Software (NMMS) app. In which fake photos were uploaded in place of real laborers instead of fake people, so that fake wages can be paid in the name of women.
Local women workers are very angry after the incident.
There is a lot of anger among the local women laborers after this incident. He described it as a betrayal of his hard work and rights. Women said that this is misuse of rural employment schemes like MNREGA and insult to women workers.
