New Delhi: The Supreme Court, while giving a historic verdict in a very sensitive case, has given great relief to a 16 -year -old minor girl who was a victim of child marriage. The court not only prevented the girl from going back to her tyrannical father, but has also given her the right to complete her further studies and live a safe life.

What is the whole matter?

The case is related to a minor girl from Jharkhand, whose father forced her child marriage. The girl ran away from home to Delhi to avoid this marriage. Subsequently, the girl’s father misused the law and filed a false case of kidnapping against the girl’s friend and her family.

When the police found the girl, she was sent to a shelter home in Delhi. When the matter reached the Supreme Court, the bench of Justice Biwi Nagratna and Justice Augustine George Christ himself spoke to the girl and heard her.

Supreme court strict stance and historical decision

The girl told the court that she does not want to go back to her father as she is in danger of her life. He expressed his desire to complete his studies by staying in Bengaluru from court, where his friend also lives.

Seeing the painful story and courage of the girl, the Supreme Court took a tough stand. The court termed the father’s move as “the worst misuse of the law”.

The court gave these important instructions in its judgment:

  1. Girl safety first: The girl will be sent from Delhi’s shelter home to a prestigious shelter home in Bengaluru, where she feels safe.

  2. Right to Education: Full arrangement will be made for his further studies in Bengaluru.

  3. Ban on false case: The action of the case of false kidnapping filed by the father on the boy’s family has been immediately banned.

This decision is a ray of hope for thousands of girls who still face a practice like child marriage in the society. The Supreme Court has given a clear message that children’s will, their safety and their future cannot be ignored under any circumstances.
