News India Live, Digital Desk: Maratha Reservation: The fire of Maratha reservation in Mumbai has once again intensified. Manoj Jarn, the leader of the movement who reached Mumbai to demand reservation for the Maratha society and the Mumbai Police has registered an FIR against thousands of his supporters. The action has been taken for illegally gathering near the historic Azad Maidan and CSMT station in Mumbai and violating police orders.
Why FIR was recorded?
Manoj Jarange along with millions of his supporters announced a huge performance in Mumbai. The administration allowed him to stay and perform at Kharghar, Navi Mumbai outside Mumbai. However, Jarange and their supporters proceeded to Mumbai, not obeying the administration and gathered in Azad Maidan and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) area of South Mumbai.
Police say they illegally gathered crowds, causing the traffic system to collapse and the common people faced a lot of trouble. The police had earlier issued a notice to them, but when the protesters did not go away, an FIR was registered at Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Marg Police Station.
What are the allegations?
This FIR has been recorded under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including:
- Unlawful assembly) illegally.
- Violation of government order.
- To threaten or obstruct others.
In this case, along with Manoj Jarange, many of his supporters and organizers of the movement have been accused.
Jarange said- “Unless reservation is not back, not back”
On the other hand, Manoj Jarang and his supporters are not ready to back down. He has made it clear that until the Maharashtra government decides to give reservation to the Maratha society under OBC quota, they will not withdraw from Mumbai, no matter how many FIRs are on them. He says that this movement has now become a fight across.
There is an atmosphere of tension in Mumbai after this incident. On one side there are government and administration and on the other side thousands of people took to the streets for their rights. Now it will have to be seen which side this camel of Maratha reservation sits.
