If you too get stuck in the traffic jam of Noida-Greater Noida Expressway for hours every day, then this news can bring a big smile on your face. To make the journey from Delhi to Jewar Airport fast and jam-free, Noida Authority has prepared the blueprint of a very ambitious project. There is a plan to soon build a 6-lane elevated road on the banks of Yamuna, which will change the face of traffic.
What is this project?
In a big meeting held recently, Noida Authority presented the complete plan of this project.
- Where to where: This road will start from Okhla Barrage in Delhi, passing along the Yamuna Pushta (river bank) and directly connect to the Yamuna Expressway.
- How will the road be: It will be a completely 6 lane elevated road, i.e. a ‘flying’ road above the ground.
- Who will build it: Noida Authority wants this road to be declared as National Highway (NH). If this happens, then all the work and expenses of its construction will be borne by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), which will not put a burden on the budget of the authority.
Where is the screw stuck?
Currently, there is a hurdle in the way of this wonderful project – NOC of the Irrigation Department. Since this road is to be built on the banks of the river, work on it cannot start without the approval of the Irrigation Department. The authority has requested the department to give approval as soon as possible. It is expected that a big and positive decision can be taken on this by November.
Why is this road a ‘panacea’?
Lakhs of people of Noida and Delhi will directly benefit from the construction of this road.
- Freedom from jam: At present, more than 10 lakh vehicles ply on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway every day, due to which it often remains jammed. With the construction of the new elevated road, the burden of this expressway will be reduced to almost half.
- Reaching the airport will be easy: This will be a direct and fast route from Delhi to Jewar Airport, which will reduce the travel time significantly.
Who will bear the expenses?
If it is not declared a National Highway, then the cost of its construction will be borne by all three, Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Development Authority. Earlier the plan was that along with the 6-lane elevated road, an 8-lane road would also be built on the ground, but now it has been decided to build only a 6-lane elevated road.
Now we are just waiting for the green signal from the Irrigation Department, once received, work on this big dream can begin and the traffic problem of Noida can end forever.
