Everyone was stunned to see the grandeur of the gentleman:You must have often seen in films how someone pretends to be a fake policeman or a senior officer, but what happened in Hyderabad is no less than the script of a Bollywood film. Hyderabad’s Film Nagar Police has arrested a Natwarlal who defrauded people of lakhs through his acting and false status.

name of the accused Bathini Shashikant (39) Is. This man’s confidence was such that sometimes he called himself an IPS, sometimes an IAS and sometimes a senior officer of the Intelligence Agency (NIA). And yes, to add weight to his words, the gentleman did not travel alone – he used to roam around with a policeman in his car with a siren and an armed gunman so that the person in front would stop speaking.

Used to hunt by going ‘undercover’ in the gym
The story of this swindler started from a gym. Shashikant joined a gym. Instead of giving the money there, he told the owner his fake identity. He said, “I am an IPS officer and have come here on a secret undercover mission.” Seeing his words and the pomp and show of the bodyguards, the gym owner also fell into the trap and started giving him free services.

Not only this, Shashikant would often suddenly run away in the middle of the workout saying, “Hey, an urgent call has come, I have to go somewhere to raid.” Seeing all this, people were convinced that he was a very big officer.

Walkie-talkie and 10 lakh rupees
To make the atmosphere real, he had appointed two people – Praveen and Vimal – as his gunmen. These people used to talk on walkie-talkie in public, as if some VIP movement was taking place. Police investigation revealed that both of them were former CRPF personnel, who also had arms licenses.

This ‘fake sir’ assured the gym owner that he could get him the expensive government land of Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) at a cheap rate. The owner trusted him 10 lakh rupees Gave it. Shashikant also handed him a fake allotment letter. Only when the gym owner reached the real office did he come to know that he had been cheated a lot.

Police caught like this
DCP (West Zone) CH Srinivas said that after receiving the complaint, the police laid a trap. Shashikant was repeatedly changing his location to avoid arrest, but on Tuesday the police caught him. Many fake I-cards (IAS, IPS, NIA) and fake documents have been found from him. At present both his gunmen are absconding.

Lesson:
Nowadays, thugs have come up with new methods. No matter how big an officer someone may show off, it is very important to check his credentials before making any money transaction. Glitter is often deceiving.
