Memories of school and strength of the republic, this speech and essay will win everyone’s heart on 26th January.

News India Live, Digital Desk: Hardly anyone would have been able to forget those memories of childhood, when in the bitter cold we used to take bath early in the morning and go to school to hoist the tricolor. The plastic flag in small hands, the white clothes and the boondias and laddus that were received after the programme… that feeling was different. Today when we 77th Republic Day When you are preparing to celebrate, the question arises whether this day is just a holiday or does it have some deeper meaning?

Why only 26th January?
Often a question comes in the minds of small children that when we got independence on 15th August, then why is 26th January celebrated? See, we had got independence, but our ‘guide book’ for running the country, i.e. our Constitution, was implemented on this day in the year 1950. On this day we truly became a ‘Republic’, which means – now we have our own rule, our own will and our king will be the one we choose.

Constitution: The force that holds us all together
Our Constitution is not just a heavy book. It gives us the right to say whatever we want, practice the religion of our choice and walk with our heads held high anywhere in the world. The biggest quality of India is diversity. Here the language changes, the food changes, but when the tricolor flutters in the wind on 26 January, everyone’s heartbeats beat in the same tune.

Not just speech, also a day of responsibility
In today’s times, patriotism is limited to just Facebook and WhatsApp status. But what is real patriotism? Real patriotism is keeping your city clean, following traffic rules and respecting every citizen. We are the fastest growing economy in the world today, we have even reached the moon, but we still have a long way to go. And this journey will be completed only when we become a better citizen.

At last…
If you have to give a speech at a school or college function, remember this – use words that directly touch the heart. We should be proud that we are residents of a country which has the distinction of being the world’s largest democracy.

So, let us bring back the same enthusiasm on this Republic Day and make a promise to ourselves that we will never let the pride of the tricolor of this country down.
