News India Live, Digital Desk: Another shining star of the golden era of Hindi cinema has set forever. Veteran actor Asrani, who entertained generations with his amazing acting and comedy timing, is no more with us. At the age of 84, he left the world on Monday, October 20 after a prolonged illness. There is a wave of mourning in the entire country, especially in the film industry, due to the news of his demise. Asrani’s fans also include the country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has shared a very emotional and heart-touching message expressing deep grief over the actor’s demise.
How did PM Modi remember ‘Jailor Saheb’?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while paying tribute to Asrani on the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), wrote that his demise has left a huge void in the world of cinema, which will be difficult to fill.
In his message, PM Modi wrote, “Deeply saddened by the demise of veteran actor Asrani ji. His versatile acting, especially his comic timing and memorable characters, have entertained audiences for generations. He had a wonderful sense of humor and brought smiles to millions of faces.”
The Prime Minister further wrote, “My thoughts are with his family and fans in this hour of grief. Om Shanti.”
Asrani was not just an actor, he was an era
On hearing the name of Asrani, the first thing that comes to our mind is the character of ‘British era jailer’ from the movie ‘Sholay’. His dialogue, “We are jailers of the British era… ha ha…” is still on people’s lips. But Asrani was not limited to just one character. In his long career, he worked in more than 400 films and played all types of characters, be it the role of a simple colleague in ‘Bawarchi’ or a funny character in ‘Chupke Chupke’.
This message of Prime Minister Modi shows that Asrani was not just an actor, but a legacy of Indian cinema, whose contribution can never be forgotten. His passing is truly the end of an era.
