China Launches Super High-Speed Maglev Train; ‘Floating Train’ Can Attain Speed Up To 600 KPH

On Tuesday, China unveiled a maglev train that moves at a super high speed. According to Chinese media reports, the Maglev train, which can move at a speed of 600 kilometers per hour, is seen floating slightly above the track. This train is seen floating above the track with the help of electromagnetic force. For that reason, this train is also being called the ‘Floating Train’.  This maglev train has been developed by China with indigenous technology and has been manufactured in the coastal city of Qingdao. 

Two And A Half Hours From Shanghai To Beijing

China has been using this technology in the field of transportation on a limited level for the last two decades. There is a short line for the Maglev train in Shanghai, which travels from the city to the main airport. However, China does not have inter-city or inter-state maglev lines as of now. Research is going on for this line, in some cities of China like Shanghai and Chengdu.

As the speed of this train is 600 kilometers per hour it will take two and a half hours to travel from Shanghai to Beijing. The distance from Shanghai to Beijing is more than 1000 kilometers. By comparison, the same journey would be done in 3 hours by plane and 5.5 hours by high-speed rail.

High-Speed Train In China Since 2003

In 2003, the country’s fastest train Maglev started running in China. It has a maximum speed of 431 kilometers per hour and connects Shanghai Pudong Airport with Longyag Road at the eastern end of Shanghai.

Countries like Japan and Germany are also planning to run Maglev trains.
