Climate Change: Snowfall Instrumental In Reducing Water Levels In Antarctica, Reports IPCC

New Delhi: Climate change has become a major issue in the last few years. Due to the changing climate, many changes have been observed in nature in recent times and its worrisome picture is constantly witnessed.

Just a few days ago, a report by the UN Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) issued a major warning regarding climate change. According to this report, it is estimated that snowfall will be instrumental in reducing rising water levels in the oceans of the South Pole. It is related to the climate change and warm atmosphere of the pole.

New technology has been used to generate this report which has researched about changes in sea levels. According to this report, two different local climates of the world Greenland and Antarctica’s ice sheets are working differently. They both are undertaking jobs which are completely different from each other. This report has been published in Geophysical Research Letters.

The specialty of this report is that it is based on the climate model as per the new technology. Scientists have given their review on climate change in this report. 

A team of 60 people from 44 institutions contributed in generating the report. It is the first time that it has been estimated about the process of increasing sea water levels from ice sheets in this report.

This report focuses on how to prepare a new climate model in the future with the help of these assessments. Researchers say that according to the new model, rising heat means that Greenland’s ice sheet will melt more rapidly, which is expected to increase the sea level by 1.5 times by 2100. Antarctica will see very little change in sea water levels.
