News India Live, Digital Desk: Today is 6 January 2026. Since morning there was talk of Tejashwi Yadav’s return to Bihar politics. But as the afternoon approached, the headlines changed. Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the Central Investigation Agency i.e. CBI on the petition of former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav in the famous IRCTC scam case.
What is the whole matter?
If you look at it, this matter is old, but the legal nuances are new. Actually, the trial court had given its decision to frame charges in this case. Challenging this decision, Tejashwi Yadav reached Delhi High Court. Their demand is clear that the charges framed against them should be reconsidered or dropped. While hearing this today, the court has asked the CBI to present its stand.

The court has now fixed the next hearing of this case on January 14. The thing to note is that this is the same day when a similar petition by Tejashwi’s father Lalu Prasad Yadav is to be heard in the High Court. That is, the day of January 14, when people in the country will be celebrating Makar Sankranti, is going to be very important for the Lalu family in the court corridors.

There is often confusion about ‘issue of notice’ in legal processes. This simply means that the court has not yet given any final verdict, rather it has given an opportunity to the other party (CBI) to tell what their opinion is on Tejashwi’s petition.
At present, both Tejashwi and Lalu are in Delhi. This activism of the court immediately after returning from abroad and meeting his father has made it clear that the beginning of the year 2026 is going to be very busy for him on the legal front. RJD workers of Bihar consider it to be a part of a political conspiracy, but now everything depends on the court’s decision.
