Farah Khan is a director who has earned more than Rs 700 crore from four films. But the actress has revealed that she has earned more from YouTube in a year than from films.
Choreographer and filmmaker Farah Khan is known for her witty way of talking. Currently, Farah is active in YouTube vlogs. Farah Khan has about 25 lakh subscribers on YouTube. Farah Khan’s cooking vlogs with Chef Dilip have become a digital sensation.
Farah Khan, who saw the poor life of her film producer father, started her career as a choreographer. Later, Farah also ventured into direction. Farah Khan, who has also spread her shine as a judge in reality shows, has recently become active on her YouTube channel.
During a podcast with Soha Ali Khan, Farah Khan openly said that she made more money from YouTube last year than making blockbuster movies, choreographing the most memorable Bollywood songs or judging India’s top reality shows.
Farah Khan’s YouTube earnings have even surpassed the earnings of blockbuster films like ‘Main Hoon Na’ (box office earnings of Rs 89 crore), ‘Om Shanti Om’ (box office earnings of Rs 152 crore) and the hit ‘Happy New Year’ (box office earnings of Rs 383 crore).
Farah Khan said, “I don’t know what to say. ‘Big’ is a relative word. But I have said somewhere that in my entire career, maybe in a year, I have never made so much money, even though I have directed so many films.”
“No one owns the money. This is my channel, so I can do whatever I want. There is no OTT channel or production house saying, ‘I have to cut this, add this.’ There is no TV channel saying, ‘You can bring only this guest.’ Now I have the freedom to call whoever I want.”
Farah Khan said that the biggest asset on YouTube is authenticity, and that is why she does not depend on makeup artists or stylists.
She also says that consistency is very important on YouTube. “I didn’t post anything for two weeks after my mother passed away. The rest of the time I just focused on my work. We finish shooting in an hour and a half.”
Farah Khan told how her chef Dilip also became famous through this channel. Farah Khan further said, “He had a lot of debt. I don’t know how. I spent an entire year repaying that debt and told him, ‘Don’t take any more interest loans because whatever I give you is going waste.’ Now I have paid off all his debts. He is building a house. I am trying to get several brands together to get the house completed for free.”
