News India Live, Digital Desk: Bangladesh Political Violence: A bloody chapter of political violence has surfaced in Chittagong district of Bangladesh, where four people died tragically in a clash during a rally, while dozens of others were injured. This incident is particularly important as it took place in Lohagara sub -district of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) founder.
The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Yusuf, former Union Council President and BNP leader of Jafarabad, Mohammad Yusuf, Mohnai Alamgir Hussain (Bima), Jasmon Ahmed (BNP worker) and Mojhar Hussain (Moni, BNP worker). All the deceased were associated with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. According to media reports, the violence erupted when BNP workers gathered on the news of Mohammad Yusuf’s death. The situation became so tense that the police had to intervene and the protesters had to fire tear gas shells and also fired rubber bullets.
According to local reports, these clashes were mainly the result of leadership and supremacy between rival groups within BNP, which had long been trying to strengthen their grip in the region. Lohagara police station officials have confirmed the deaths, and efforts are on to calm the situation. However, some reports are also pointing to the involvement of members of the ruling Awami League student organization ‘Bangladesh Students League’, who tried to stop the protests of BNP workers.
These incidents give a clear indication of growing political stress and unrest in the country before the upcoming elections. The BNP has called for rallies across the country across the country after using the police force in protest against the police action, which is a sign of further tension across the country.
