This case was taken up by some policemen associated with Gangbridge police station in Vaishali district for questioning in a case and then kept them in the police station for 19 hours without any FIR or legal process. He was neither allowed to talk to his family nor told why he was caught.

The government also said that the policemen responsible for this incident were transferred to another district.

But the court was not satisfied with these arguments of the government. Justice Satyavrat Verma said in his comment, “How can someone be seated in the police station for 19 hours in the name of inquiry? It is directly a violation of the fundamental right of a person’s freedom.”

The court further said, “If they violate the law, they will also have to bear the consequences if they violate the law.” The court refused to accept the transfer as a ‘punishment’ and said that it is a normal process.
