In an extraordinary intersection of technology, biology, and governance, twin sisters from Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, have finally received individual legal identities after years of struggle. The twin sisters—Tuba Zubair and Khizra Zubair, daughters of Zubair Ilyas from the Khari Kuan locality in Rampur—had remained trapped in an identity crisis due to exceptional biometric similarities. Every time the family attempted to register the second daughter for an Aadhaar card, the central database flagged her fingerprints and retinal scans as an exact duplicate of her sister’s, rejecting the application outright.

A Three-Month Technical Feat to Establish Unique Recognition
Resolving the standoff required three months of rigorous technical coordination between the district administration and UIDAI technical teams. The central authority initiated an exceptional review protocol designed to override automatic duplication triggers under specialized biometric exception clauses.
