New Delhi, Iran-Israel Tensions: Air traffic in the Middle East has been badly affected due to increasing military tension between Iran and Israel. In response to Israeli’s alleged military action against Iran, Iran, Iraq and Jordan have shut down their airspace, forcing airlines from all over the world to cancel or divert their flights.
To ensure the safety of passengers and crew, several major airlines have changed their routes to their flights passing through the region. Air India has announced that many of its international flights to the US, Britain and Canada are either diverted or returning to the initial point. For example, a flight flying from Mumbai to London had to return to Mumbai. Air India has regretted the inconvenience caused to passengers, saying that refund and honorable resurrection is being offered on cancellation of tickets.
Flydubai, Emirates and other international airlines such as Lufthansa have also diverted or canceled their flights. Institutions advised on aviation risk have advised to take extreme precautions in the region.
This situation can extend the flights that were already affected by the shutdown of Pakistani airs. Passengers have been advised to check the flight status from their respective airlines before starting their journey. The Delhi Airport has also issued an advisory for passengers asking them to keep in touch with the airlines for the latest updates. The Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv has also issued a security advice to its citizens in Israel to be vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel.
