Jharkhand Launches ‘Mission Kartavya’ To Fight Third Wave Of Covid-19 – All You Need To Know

Ranchi: The state health department has begun working on steps to develop a well-coordinated platform between the government and civil society organisations/NGOs across 24 districts in preparation for the projected ‘Third Wave’ of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The campaign, known as ‘Mission Kartavya’, requires every district to establish Go-CSO (government-civil society organisation) coordination committees on a priority basis.

The deputy commissioner has been instructed to monitor developments on a constant basis and to resolve any weaknesses through various activities in collaboration with the state-level committee.

Arun Kumar Singh, the state’s additional chief secretary for health, has sent a letter to all the districts in this respect. The letter contains specifics about the mission’s standard operating procedures.

“Covid second wave posed new challenges for us and therefore strategies are being made to prevent and respond to the emerging situation of a possible third wave. A more coordinated effort of CSOs (civil society organisations) and government is the need of the hour for which key directions have been issued to every district,” Singh said, as noted by Telegraph.

During the first wave of Covid-19, a framework for GO-CSO cooperation was established in Jharkhand under the guidance of Niti Aayog, but it was eventually stopped for a number of reasons. Consequently, during the first phase of the second wave, the government’s management of the epidemic became chaotic, resulting in a backlog of cases and, finally, a high death toll.

The Department of Health is currently putting its plan in place, well ahead of schedule, to deal with the unexpected threat wisely. The UNICEF state nodal agency will collaborate closely with district nodal offices and mother CSOs chosen by the district government in order to carry out this goal. Administration and civil society organisations (GO-CSO) coordination committees will be established in each district to carry out a variety of initiatives aimed at tracking, tracing, and preventing the virus’s progress.

Various “to-dos” have also been drafted by the department under the initiative.
