Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday teared into the Congress Party for attempting to obstruct the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament by bringing up the Pegasus phone tapping controversy.

As reported by the Indian Express, in a press conference, Khattar said, “For the ongoing session, it was decided to discuss various schemes for women, youth, and backward classes but Congress always has a target of getting involved with certain forces to derail the proceedings whenever there is a possibility of a good thing.”

Taking a swipe at Congress and questioning the timing of the dispute, Khattar remarked that their time is always planned.

He added that they always engage in such activities and create conspiracies with the help of foreign forces when they realize they have nothing else to discuss.

He claimed that the Pegasus plot came to light through a Leftist publication and a nexus of Leftists, on July 18, just one day before the Parliament Session commenced.

In response to a question that highlighted 17 media organisations coming out with the same results about Pegasus, Khattar stated that all of these media organisations are independent of any country and operate according to their own procedures. He even went so far as to say that these organisations have no respect for any country and are not even patriots.

Questioning the authenticity of the issue and targeting Amnesty, the organisation which published these stories on their website a few months ago, Khattar claimed that these stories are now being used by The Wire and the opposition to undermine the government.

“I directly blame Congress. If not against us or Prime Minister Narendra Modi, they should at least be concerned about the country’s reputation. They should stay careful about what they are saying as it impacts our country’s image globally. “They should not play such games, otherwise, it will damage the country and the faith in us (India) will be reduced. Our country today has reached a certain level globally because of the policies of Narendra Modi and NDA” he added as per the Indian Express.
