Talking about his early days in the film industry, he said, “At that time, it was not easy to join the film industry, especially for a girl. I lived right next to a film studio, my parents were very strict but I had made up my mind to become an actress. I still remember my first shoot in adolescence, in which I was adorned in heavy makeup. I was run away from the set due to being rebellious. But after that, the house was going to go home from the public transport, and there was an experience, even a mark. Was staring at me! “
Speaking on the politics within the showbiz, he clearly accepted, “There has always been politics in the film world. Talking about filmmakers who shaped their journey, Moushumi remembered, “Interestingly, my first director Tarun Mazumdar was – he once worked as a spot boy and became a famous filmmaker. I also remember that Parineeta’s director Ajay came to meet my family. After my father’s consent, I met him and started my journey. There was a time when I was a film of Rishikesh Mukherjee. Said, “Please give me another opportunity to do a film with you – I think I would have already ruined your career.”
Regarding choosing roles and facing sexual bias, he said, “Whatever roles I took, I asked myself: am I suitable for it? It was never about protecting my image, it was about what the role is suitable for me, even though it means to play a big role than my real age. But being a woman in this industry was never easy. Men often feel uncomfortable with such a woman who is in power or the place is still there. It was always, “My daughter will cook, not my son.”
