Owaisi’s Entry in UP Will Benefit Yogi Adityanath, Claims Baba Ramdev

During his visit to Babrala in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district for the provincial Arya Mahasammelan, yoga guru Baba Ramdev stirred regional political circles with a direct assessment of Uttar Pradesh’s electoral landscape. When questioned by reporters regarding All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s aggressive campaigning and rhetoric in the state, Ramdev contended that Owaisi’s political moves would ultimately fortify the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party’s position. Describing the Hyderabad MP as “very good” and “uttam” (ideal) specifically for Uttar Pradesh, Ramdev emphasized that electoral fragmentation among traditional opposition vote banks directly consolidates Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s mandate.

The Vote-Cutter Dynamic and Coalition Calculations

Ramdev’s comments arrived as a reaction to Owaisi’s recent rallies across western Uttar Pradesh—including stops in Rampur and Kairana—where the AIMIM leader challenged the Samajwadi Party’s traditional grip on minority representation while seeking strategic coalitions. According to Ramdev, whenever AIMIM fields candidates in high-density constituencies, it draws away a dedicated slice of minority and anti-incumbency votes that would otherwise pool behind regional opposition alliances. Consequently, this multi-cornered division lowers the winning margin required by the ruling dispensation, handing a decisive mathematical advantage to the incumbent government.

Vision on Governance and Leadership in Uttar Pradesh

When pressed on whether he favored seeing Yogi Adityanath secure a third consecutive term as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Ramdev refrained from declaring formal election forecasts, framing his perspective instead around philosophical governance. Citing the teachings of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati and Vedic principles, he stated that the nation deserves governance by “good and noble souls” characterized by righteousness and development. He commended Yogi Adityanath’s developmental and cultural initiatives in the state, noting that leaders dedicated to Sanatan ideals and progress should rightly lead.

Calling Out Decorum in Electoral Discourse

Beyond state-specific arithmetic, Ramdev also addressed broader national debates during the interaction. He expressed strong disapproval of below-the-belt political rhetoric, calling out personal attacks directed against political rivals, including remarks concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s family. Emphasizing dignity across party lines, Ramdev noted that political disagreements must remain rooted in policy and ideological critique rather than falling into unparliamentary mudslinging.
