Be it winning the Emmy Award or Shefali Shah’s soul-stirring acting, every season of this show sets a benchmark. Now the discussion is about Season 3, and a new and powerful name has been added to it – Sayani Gupta.

But, what Sayani has revealed after becoming a part of the show’s cast is a bit surprising. Usually, before joining a project, actors check out their previous work, but Sayani did the opposite.

Why didn’t you watch the show?

During a recent conversation, Sayani Gupta honestly revealed that when she was cast for ‘Delhi Crime Season 3’, she had not even watched the first two seasons.

Sounds strange, right? But the reason behind this is quite logical and also intimidating. Sayani told that she was afraid that if she had seen the performance of stalwarts like Shefali Shah, Rasika Duggal and Rajesh Tailang, she would have come under pressure.

She jokingly admitted, “I knew that if I saw that great acting, my confidence would be shaken and I would wonder how I would be able to stand out among them.” It was clear that she wanted to avoid any kind of ‘acting influence’ or nervousness, so that she could play her character like a blank slate.

Entry with fresh perspective

This decision of Sayani could have been risky, but as an artist it is also wise. It is better to enter the field with your new thinking rather than being burdened with pre-made performance. Sayani is very excited about working with director Richie Mehta and now fans are waiting to see what wonder Sayani, who showed her boldness in ‘Four More Shots Please’, does in this serious crime drama.
