Think, you see your favorite superstar – Shah Rukh Khan or Deepika Padukone – advertising a shining new car on TV. Impressed by you, they buy that car, and later it is known that there is a big defect in that car!
Obviously, you will get very angry. Something similar happened with a man, and he filed a case against Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone who advertised along with the car maker!
The whole matter reached the Rajasthan High Court, and now the court has given a big relief to these two film stars.
After all, what was this whole matter?
This is the case of a car company advertising. A customer alleged that he had bought a car after seeing Shahrukh and Deepika’s advertisement, but later a serious manufacturing defect came out in the engine of that car.
The customer complained to the Consumer Forum and made a party as well as Shah Rukh and Deepika, who appeared in the advertisement. He said that these big stars should not advertise such products, whose quality is not good. On this case, the lower court had ordered an FIR against Shahrukh-Deepika.
What happened in the High Court?
When the matter reached the Rajasthan High Court, the stars lawyers made a very interesting argument. He said:
“The job of any actor or model is only to advertise the company’s given product. They are the ‘brand ambassador’ of that product, not the quality check engineer! How can they find out whether there is a malfunction in the car engine or not?”
Assuming this argument, the High Court gave the lower court against Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone FIR order has been banned,
This decision is also a big lesson for all celebrities, who do not take complete information about any product before advertising it. At the same time, customers also have to understand that the quality of a product is the responsibility of the company that makes it, not just the one who advertises it.
