Taliban Delegation Meets Ex-Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Others To Discuss Govt Formation

Afghanistan Crisis: What will be the nature of the next government in Afghanistan after the Taliban took over? Today, a delegation of Taliban leaders led by Anas Haqqani held a meeting with former President Hamid Karzai, Chairman of the High Peace Council Dr Abdullah and former Mujahideen leader Gulbadin Hekmatiar in Kabul to discuss the same issue.

Recently, President Ashraf Ghani left the country as Taliban took control over Kabul. Now, Mullah Abdul Ghani Biradar is said to be the next President of Afghanistan. Baradar is the head of the political wing of the Taliban.

Three days ago, ABP News reported that former President Hamid Karzai, Chairman of the High Peace Council, Dr. Abdullah and former Mujahideen leader Gulbadin Hekmatiar were arriving in Kabuli in order to form a new government in Afghanistan and would talk with the Taliban leaders.

Yesterday, it was reported that Taliban leaders are not coming to Kabul.

Afghan government sources had told ABP News that the three leaders would convince the Taliban leadership that a common comprehensive government should be formed in Afghanistan by involving all sides of the parties, which would also give international recognition to the Taliban-led government.

On Tuesday, Taliban spokesman Zabeehullah Mujahid said that Taliban want a government that includes all parties.

Meanwhile, thousands of people are in the process of fleeing to the country after the Taliban rapidly captured Afghanistan’s power. They fear that the same Taliban terror, which was there in its regime 20 years ago, may happen again.

However, the Taliban say that women will be granted rights under Islamic law and claimed to be a moderate version of what they were in 1990s.

In its first press conference after taking control of Kabul, a Taliban spokesman said it would not target its enemies. But there are reports that fighters have a list of people who cooperated with the government and Taliban are looking for them.
