News India Live, Digital Desk: Famous writer Chetan Bhagat, on whose books superhit films like ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘2 States’ have been made, has said some things about Bollywood which reveal the truth behind the glamor of the industry. He has clearly said that there is no true friendship in Bollywood, here everything depends on selfishness and profit.
“Gifts started coming home as soon as the film was announced.”
In a recent interview, Chetan Bhagat, while sharing his experience, said that whenever there was an announcement of making a film on any of his books, there used to be a line of gifts and sweets at his house. People used to do this so that they could get a role in the film. However, Chetan doesn’t take it wrong, saying, “I don’t blame him, it’s part of his struggle. You can call it selfishness or his struggle.”
“If it’s a hit, everyone will ask, if it’s a flop, no one.”
Describing the truth about relationships in Bollywood, Chetan said that here your value is determined by your success. He told that when his films were becoming hits, he was congratulated on his birthday by big actors of the industry, whom he did not even know. But as soon as the discussion subsided, the messages also stopped coming.
According to him, Bollywood is like a “deal-making factory”, where friendship is pretended, but in reality no one is related to anyone. This is a very insecure industry, where even the biggest star can disappear after three films flop.
“Fame is like a drug”
Chetan Bhagat believes that fame in Bollywood is like a drug and this drug is present in the air of Mumbai. To stay away from this addiction, he now spends most of his time in Dubai, where no one recognizes him and he can do his writing work peacefully. He also said that he no longer wants to be involved too much in films because he feels that chasing three films will take up 10 years of his time and the people he will be working with will also not be the best people.
These statements of Chetan Bhagat have once again thrown light on the inner world of Bollywood, which is as glamorous from outside as it is from inside, which is equally hollow and selfish.
