UNSC Meeting: China Alleges India Did Not Allow Pakistan To Speak On Afghanistan Crisis

[ad_1]

New York: During the UN Security Council meeting on Afghanistan, China once again brought Pakistan into the discussion. China had accused India of not allowing Afghanistan’s neighbouring country Pakistan to put forth its views during the discussion. China called the whole thing ‘unfortunate’.

Government of India sources responded and told ABP News that the draft discussion had a scheduled open briefing for council members and the affected country. Pakistan was not the only country to express their willingness to speak on the matter, there were other nations with similar requests. However, it was not possible without the full consent of the Member States, also no one demanded a vote among the Member States on the subject.

According to sources, the allegations levelled against India by a country are totally baseless and show that that member country is not aware of the rules of discussion. It is absolutely wrong for a country to accuse India of not allowing other countries to participate.

What happened in the UNSC meeting, what did India say?

Expressing concerns at the UN Security Council meeting on the situation in Afghanistan, India has said that women, men and children are living in fear in Afghanistan, and these situations are a matter of concern. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that the people of the war-torn country should not be left alone.

During the meeting, India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations TS Tirumurti said that as a neighbouring country of Afghanistan, as a friend of its people, the current situation in the country is a matter of great concern for us in India. Afghan men, women and children are constantly living in a state of fear.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called upon the international community. He asked them to ensure that Afghanistan should not become a haven for terrorist organizations once again. He added that the Afghan people should not be left alone.
