News India Live, Digital Desk: The makers of the film ‘KD: The Devil’ have made their promotional song ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ private after receiving strong reactions on social media. This song, released on March 15, 2026, started facing demands for a ban within just two days.
Main reasons for dispute
Obscene Lyrics (Double Meaning Lyrics): Lyrics of the song are written by Raqib Alam. The audience alleges that the initial lines of the song are not ‘double meaning’ but simply indecent.
Objection to hook step: A hook step performed by Nora Fatehi, in which she repeatedly drops and lifts her chunari (pallu), was described by many as ‘provocative’ and ‘indecent’.
Setting and Presentation: The song was shot against the backdrop of a dance bar, which was considered too ‘loud’ and ‘provocative’ for the 1970s underworld.
Big personalities also expressed their displeasure
Armaan Malik: Famous singer Armaan Malik wrote on social media platform X that commercial songwriting has reached its lowest level (New Low). He said ‘at loss of words’ after listening to it.
Priyank Kanungo (NHRC Member): The member of the National Human Rights Commission also criticized the functioning of the Central Board of Censor (CBFC) in licensing such obscenity.
Administrative and legal pressure
Demand for FIR: Advocate Vineet Jindal has filed a complaint with the Cyber Cell of Delhi Police and the Censor Board, in which the song has been described as against the dignity of women and obscene.
Makers’ decision: Seeing the growing controversy and to avoid legal complications, the productions have removed both the Hindi and Kannada (Sarse Ninna Seraga Sarse) versions of the song from YouTube.
