Canada Earthquake: 6.6 magnitude earthquake hits British Columbia, Canada | News India

[ad_1]

Strong earthquake tremors have been felt in Canada. According to the information given by the Earthquake Survey Center, this earthquake occurred on the coast of Port McNeil. Its intensity was 6.6 on the Richter scale. According to the US National Tsunami Center, there is no tsunami warning after the earthquake. The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometers below the sea level in the Pacific Ocean.

Why and how do earthquakes occur?

To understand this from a scientific point of view, we have to understand the structure of the earth. The earth is situated on tectonic plates. There is liquid lava beneath it and tectonic plates float on it. Often these plates keep colliding with each other. Due to repeated collisions, the corners of the plates often bend and due to excessive pressure these plates start breaking. In this way, the energy from below finds a way to come out. Whereas due to this disturbance, earthquakes increase.
