For some time, many types of rumors have been spreading on social media and other platforms about ₹ 500 note, which has created an atmosphere of confusion and anxiety among the general public. It is being claimed in these rumors that the ₹ 500 note will soon be out of circulation or will be closed. However, the Government of India and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) have completely rejected these claims and clarified that no such announcement has been made.
Do not pay attention to rumors!
The PIB Fact Czech, which is the official fact-checking unit of the government, has termed all these misleading messages wrong. He has clarified that the Government of India or RBI have not issued any order regarding the closure of ₹ 500 notes. These rumors are spreading through a viral message on social media, allegedly claiming to be shut down ₹ 500 notes on 15 November 2025 and bring back ₹ 1000 notes. This is completely misinformed information.
Previous demonetisation and current status:
It is important to note that during the demonetisation in 2016, the old notes of Rs 500 and 1000 rupees were excluded from circulation, causing a lot of inconvenience to the general public. At that time 2000 rupees and new 500 rupee notes were introduced. Later 2000 rupee notes were also removed from circulation. Due to this background, any rumor about ₹ 500 note spreads early fear among people.
Believe only official sources:
The Government of India and the Reserve Banks of India request the public not to believe any such informal or unmatched information. All important information related to currency and banking system is only released by government communication media like RBI’s official website (RBI.org.in) or letter Information Office (PIB). If there is any real change in relation to the ₹ 500 note, it will be widely reported through official channels.
Currently, the ₹ 500 note remains a legitimate and important part of the Indian economy. Avoid any confusion and rely only on verified information.
