According to the order issued by the Pension and Pensioner Welfare Department on Wednesday, the employees working under the UPS will get the option of profit under OPS in the event of sacking from service due to death, disability or disability during service. Apart from this, employees working under the National Pension System will also get the benefit of retirement gratuity and death gratuity, which includes a maximum gratuity of Rs 25 lakh.

According to the notification issued by the Finance Ministry on 24 January, UPS will be started as an alternative to NPS for new recruitments in the Central Government’s civil services from 1 April 2025. The scheme will provide more flexibility and protection to the employees.
