But imagine what would happen if billionaire Elon Musk’s own AI, ‘Grok’, started making such pictures of him that Musk himself would have to change the rules after seeing them? Yes, a similar strange incident has been seen on X (Twitter).
What was the whole matter?
What happened was that for the last few days, strange pictures of Elon Musk were going viral on Instagram. In these photos, Musk was seen wearing a bikini and doing strange activities. These pictures were not created by any Photoshop expert, but using the editing feature of Musk’s own AI ‘Grok’. Within no time these ‘bikini photos’ started trending on social media. For some people it was just a joke, but for Musk and his team it became a big question of security and ethics.

Elon Musk did not like the fact that people were using his own tools on his own platform to tarnish his (or others’) reputation. The result was that Grok’s image editing power was quietly put to rest, without any major announcement. Now the option to edit AI images through Grok has been limited only to ‘Verified’ i.e. X Premium users. To put it in simple language, if you now want to mess with AI, you will have to shell out money.
Just a joke or a threat to privacy?
Experts believe that this ban is not just for money. The real problem is that without any filter, AI can create ‘deepfake’ pictures of anyone, which can hurt someone’s dignity. Earlier, Grok was in the news for its bold and outspoken nature, but this ‘bikini photo controversy’ forced Musk to draw a line between AI’s freedom and responsibility.
