Tehran/Washington: Amidst the ongoing war in the Middle East, a news has come from the land of Iran which has attracted the attention of the entire world. The second crew member of the American F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet that crashed on April 3 has been rescued safely after an extremely adventurous and dangerous mission. According to reports by ‘Al Jazeera’ and ‘Axios’, this rescue operation was like a script of a thriller film, in which a direct and fierce encounter took place between American commandos and Iranian security forces.
Fierce firing and commando action: How was the pilot’s life saved?
The missing pilot was located near the city of Kohgiluyeh and Dehdasht in Boyer-Ahmed province of Iran. As soon as American intelligence got the exact location of the pilot, a special commando unit struck the ground with ‘air cover’.
Ground conflict: During the rescue, there was a face-to-face firing between American and Iranian forces.
Air Strike: Heavy aerial bombardment was also carried out in that area to provide cover to the commando units.
Casualty: At least 4 people are reported dead and many injured in this bloody clash. However, the American contingent successfully managed to escape from the Iranian border along with the pilot.
Iran’s ‘manhunt’ and appeal to tribes
Immediately after the plane fell, Iran deployed its entire military machinery to capture the two crew members. According to the Iranian news agency ‘Fars’, the local administration had made a special appeal to the nomadic tribes and villagers of Kohgiluyeh province for help in finding the American pilots. Iran was trying to put pressure on America by making these pilots ‘prisoners of war’, but the American rescue team foiled their plans.
‘Survival Mantra’ to escape from enemy captivity
The special ‘survival training’ of the pilot has a big role in this successful rescue. Pilots of fighter planes of western countries are given special training to survive in enemy territory and avoid capture.
Pilot’s magical ‘survival vest’:
GPS Coded Beacons: It sends a secret signal that only friendly forces can decode.
Secret Codes: Pilots use special terms to identify themselves.
Emergency Kit: The vest contains a radio, water, vitamin bars, first-aid and a pistol for survival.
