India has dismissed the report of the Canadian Foreign-Intervention Commission of Inquiry, alleging India of interfering in the Canadian elections. Along with this, India has accused Canada of continuously interfering in India’s internal affairs and promoting illegal migration and organized crime.
India gave a befitting reply
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs issued an official statement saying, “
“We have seen this alleged report, accusing India of interfering. But the reality is that Canada itself has been continuously interfering in India’s internal affairs. It has created a favorable environment to promote illegal migration and organized criminal activities. ”
The ministry also clarified that the India dismisses all the allegations made in the report and expects Canada to stop its policies promoting illegal migration.
What does Canada report say?
A report released in Canada claimed that India ranks second in the list of countries interfering in Canadian elections. However, India has described this claim as completely baseless.
The report said that China has more influence than India in affecting Canada’s democratic processes. In addition, Russia, Pakistan and Iran have also been included in allegations of interfering in elections.
The report also claimed that India tries to influence the Indo-Canadian community and other major non-Indo-Canadian individuals, so that it can turn Canada’s policies in India’s favor.
Ripudaman Singh Malik murder case: convict sentenced to convict
Amid the release of this report, in 2022, the accused of killing Khalistani leader Ripudman Singh Malik was sentenced to 20 years. The British Columbia Supreme Court Justice Terence Shultase found 24 -year -old Tanner Fox guilty of killing another status and was sentenced without parole.
Who was Ripudaman Singh Malik?
Ripudaman Singh Malik was a controversial person. His name came under suspicion of being involved in the 1985 Kanishka bomb blast, killing 329 people. However, due to lack of evidence, Malik and his co-accused Ajayab Singh Bagri were acquitted by the court.
Inderjit Singh Reit, who made the bomb, was convicted for the attack, but was released after completing the most of his sentence in 2016.
Khalistan movement shied, PM Modi appreciated
In early 2022, Ripudman Singh Malik distanced a distance from the Khalistan movement and he publicly issued a letter praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is believed that there were differences between Malik and Khalistani supporter Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
Interestingly, Malik was allowed to travel to India by removing the blacklist.
Malik’s murder and allegations of Khalistani groups
Malik was shot and killed on 14 July 2022. The Khalistani group ‘Sikhs for Justice’ (SFJ) held India responsible for the murder.
A few months later, Hardeep Singh Nijjar was also killed on 18 June 2023. The Canadian government accused India of being a hand behind the murder, increasing tension in the relations between the two countries.
Increased stress in India-Canada relations
Relations between India and Canada have been constantly tense over the years. The main reason for this has been the increasing activities of Khalistani supporters in Canada and anti -India rhetoric. India has been demanding action on the Khalistani elements from the Canadian government for a long time, but so far no concrete steps have been taken on it.
The new Canadian report has given further air to the dispute, but India has made it clear that it will not tolerate any external intervention in its internal affairs.
